One time I stood in Manhattan and all I could see was skyscrapers all around me. I felt like I was in a maze!
Now imagine for a moment a person standing in the middle of the city and trying to figure out the size and shape of the entire Manhattan Island around them—this would be a difficult task!
In a similar way, we were each born into a family, a group of people and a culture at a certain moment of time in earth’s history, and it can be difficult for us to figure out where the world came from, why we are here, and where we are meant to go.
Without understanding the big picture, we might despair or feel confused or depressed by the cruelty, death and suffering around us. We might feel discouraged by the seemingly endless conflict of opinions around us.
A Perspective From Above
People finally launched satellites up to high altitudes and took photos of Manhattan Island. With a satellite helping us, we can see the exact shape and size of the island:
Because of his love for us, our creator above us also tells us the shape of history around us, from the beginning of time until the future that is to come. This truth is recorded in the bible, which is God’s trustworthy word that was given to us. By studying the bible, we can discover the amazing truth about where we came from, where we are going, and who we are meant to be. We can come to know the one savior who will defeat death, and how we can be part of the world to come where neither animals nor people will die. We will be given joy and hope even through life’s darkest days.
